Regina based trio These Estates found form on this terrific single, moving quickly from the deft but formulaic power pop of their debut EP to acting as bearers of the torch which was initially kindled by fellow Canadian rocker Neil Young but most recently carried by Silkworm and Ladyhawk. The scathing ‘Soiled Hands’ is part late night lament, part revenge fantasy which handily showcases the sheer intensity of guitarist-vocalist John Cameron’s playing and also borrows the late comedian Henny Youngman’s famous quip “I read about the evils of drinking, so I quit…reading”. The flipside is equally sublime, if more restrained.
From Dec. 25 to Jan. 1, we’re giving away our first EP, I Can’t Wait!, for free. Happy holidays.
